Chapel: Model 300

Model 300 is a magnificent wooden chapel featuring a traditional tented roof (shatyor), a design deeply rooted in the architectural heritage of the Northern regions of Russia. Combining time-honored traditions with modern technology, this structure is crafted from high-tech, precision-engineered 3.5″ glued laminated timber (glulam).

Every component is pre-cut at the factory using advanced CNC machinery with interlocking corner joints (chashki), transforming the on-site construction process into a fast, precise, “LEGO-like” assembly. All roof trusses and the intricate tented structure itself are fully prefabricated at the factory for maximum quality and seamless fit.

Expanded Use & Versatility

With an interior area of 294 sq. ft., Model 300 comfortably accommodates up to 58 people. It features a wide traditional narthex (papert) and an elevated gallery (gulbishche) wrapping around the perimeter, beautifully replicating the welcoming layout of historical Russian churches.

This model is incredibly versatile:

  • As a Community Chapel: An ideal spiritual center for medium-sized Orthodox communities, monastic sketes, or rural parishes.
  • As a Mission Church: The spacious interior allows for the installation of an iconostasis to separate the altar space from the nave (katholikon), easily converting the chapel into a fully functioning small church.
  • As a Landmark Sanctuary: Perfect for pilgrimage sites, holy springs, spiritual retreats, cemeteries, or historic memorial grounds where a commanding, traditional architectural presence is desired.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Interior Space Area: 294 sq. ft.
  • Capacity: Up to 58 people.
  • Aesthetic Feature: Includes a majestic 5-foot diameter onion dome (glavka).
  • Important Zoning Note: The overall height of the structure from the ground is 55 feet. Due to this impressive height, it may exceed permissible height limits under local zoning regulations in certain municipalities. We highly recommend verifying your local zoning laws and height restrictions prior to ordering.

Construction & Logistics

The base kit is produced at manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. Shipping and delivery costs are calculated separately based on your location.

Once delivered, the components, roof structures, and prefabricated elements are professionally assembled on your site by our experienced construction team.

What is Included in the Base Price?

The base price starts at $155,000 (including on-site assembly of the base kit) and covers:

  • Complete precision-cut structural glulam wooden frame
  • Prefabricated roof trusses and tented structural frame
  • Temporary waterproofing underlayment for the roof
  • Structural 5-foot onion dome

Options & Customizations (Not Included in Base)

To provide maximum flexibility and cost control, the following elements are excluded from the standard package but can be added as optional upgrades or managed locally:

  • Insulation Upgrade: For colder climates, an insulated “sandwich-wall” construction option is available.
  • Decorative Elements: Traditional ornate carvings, including detailed fascia boards (lobovye doski), window surrounds (nalichniki), bargeboards (pricheliny), decorative pilasters, and carved balusters (balyasiny).
  • Exterior Protection & Coatings: While the glulam timber does not require traditional exterior siding, it must be treated with high-quality protective wood oils or stains for long-term durability. (Finishing paint and coating materials are not included).
  • Final Roofing: Final finished roofing materials (installed over the included temporary underlayment).
  • Interior & Mechanicals: Electrical wiring, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and interior wall finishes or iconography.
  • Foundation: Foundations and flooring.

⚠️ Important Recommendations Regarding Foundations

As with our other models, foundations and flooring are typically the responsibility of the client. Due to the substantial weight and 55-foot height of Model 300, we strongly recommend conducting a geological soil survey to assess soil bearing capacity. You should also utilize the services of a licensed structural engineer to design a robust, reliable foundation capable of securing this tall structure against local wind and environmental loads.

We will provide exact building weights and dimensions based on your chosen configuration to assist your engineer.
