One of my all-time favorite churches in the U.S.
St. Theodosius Cathedral in Cleveland holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just the architecture—though those eleven onion domes against the sky take my breath away every time. It’s the feeling. The kind of deep, quiet awe that wraps around you the moment you step inside.
Built in 1912 by Russian immigrants with help from Tsar Nicholas II himself, this church is a living prayer in brick and stone. The walls are filled with hand-painted icons and sacred silence. The dome rises like a promise, echoing the great cathedrals of Russia, but here, planted firmly in American soil.
Every visit reminds me why I fell in love with church architecture in the first place. It’s beauty with a backbone. Faith carved into form.
